The Mortgage Room was founded in 2006 by Paul Fuller and his wife Robyn after a career of more than 25 years working together in the banking industry. Paul brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as a Financial Adviser, specialising in lending.

Whether that be in a professional scope, assisting others to achieve home ownership and reach their financial goals, or out within the community. Paul loves to live the Kiwi dream and spends his down time with his family hunting, fishing and pottering around their lifestyle block.

Robyn has been an integral part of the Mortgage Room for over 20 years, working closely with Paul to help bring his vision to life. In addition to managing the business side of our Mortgage Room, Robyn now also works for Anna Corbin at Henny Penny Insurance Ltd. In late 2025, we handed over all risk insurance services—Life, Trauma, Health, Mortgage, and Income cover, to Henny Penny Insurance. Robyn ensures clients experience a smooth, trusted transition, providing continuity and care every step of the way. The two businesses continue to build on advocacy, expertise and a whole lot of heart.
Sarah Hewson

Sarah is growing a family in rural Marlborough and is an active property investor. She has a wealth of experience in the agricultural sector with a background in owning and operating a sheep shearing business. Alongside self-employment she bought her first home in 2017 and continued to grow a residential and commercial property investment portfolio, gaining valuable experience in debt structuring.
Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce in Agriculture Marketing and now with the Level 5 NZ Certificate in Financial Services, Sarah has shifted her focus to assisting others with their financial goals.
Sarah understands the challenge of navigating the financial world.

Kirk joined the Mortgage Room in January of 2021. She spent the first 10 years of her career in the hospitality industry both in New Zealand and whilst travelling overseas. Upon her return, she moved into the insurance and banking sector before she decided to join the Mortgage Room team. And we’re so glad she did...her baking is next level!
Jo McCormick

Originally from Rotorua, Jo made the move to Marlborough in 2007 and has recently joined The Mortgage Room team. With a background in insurance and banking, her career has included a variety of roles, recently spending seven years as the Event Manager for Garden Marlborough before returning to the finance industry.
Outside of work, Jo enjoys walking, gardening, and exploring the local area on her recently purchased e-bike – discovering the many tracks and hidden corners of the region.
Vanessa Watson

Vanessa joined the Mortgage Room in January 2025. Her career started in media at The Marlborough Express and more recently she has been working as a Service Delivery Manager at NZ Defence Force based at RNZAF Base Woodbourne, Blenheim. Living in Blenheim her whole life with husband Mark, and now at Rarangi, she enjoys time with her adult children and 5 grand-daughters, who all reside here, as well as riding her horse and helping at her church, the Salvation Army.
